Paper machinery typically includes equipment for pulping, papermaking, and finishing, as well as general equipment for electrical drive, automation, computer operation, and environmental protection. The paper equipment industry is highly specialized, involving numerous technical fields such as machinery, chemicals, materials, corrosion resistance, pressure vessels, and automation.

The enormous domestic demand for paper provides ample space for the design of paper equipment. According to plans, the output of paper and cardboard will reach 38 to 40 million tons, with an additional output of 8 to 10 million tons. Based on traditional analysis of the paper equipment industry, the production capacity currently available in China can only meet less than one-third of the market demand. Statistics show that in 1995, only 16 paper enterprises had a scale of operation exceeding 100,000 tons; by 2000, the number of paper machinery manufacturers increased to 44, but overall progress remained slow, making it difficult to meet the needs of the domestic paper industry.

The development of the domestic paper industry is unstable, and factors such as price, technology, reliability, and after-sales service are important criteria for domestic paper mills when choosing paper machines. Foreign-funded enterprises and joint ventures with strong financial backing have higher requirements for equipment and products, leading them to often choose to import all or part of the key equipment. For these customers, it is currently difficult for domestic paper mills to meet their needs, with only some domestically produced equipment available for bulk products (such as cardboard).

However, these enterprises are just a minority; many others, while having certain economic strength, feel powerless against the prices of imported equipment and large-scale investments, yet have a strong demand for high-quality products. Therefore, they are direct promoters of progress in the domestic paper industry. Another segment is still producing at a low level, despite intentions for technological upgrades, but limitations in funding, governance, and technology hinder their progress, presenting significant potential for advancement.

The domestic paper industry has made good progress in the past decade. Industries such as aviation and shipbuilding are also involved in the production of paper machinery, focusing on product technology levels, new product development, and the scale of individual machines. Many enterprises have emerged, some of which are passionate about improving product technology and developing new products. However, there have been almost no major changes in the industry, mainly characterized by product homogeneity, lack of distinctiveness; excessive competition leading to thin profits; unstable product performance and low technical levels.

The above content indicates that the domestic paper machinery industry is still in the initial development stage. On one hand, there is a relative surplus of low-end products, leading to declining profits; on the other hand, the demand for high-end technology products is difficult to meet.

The good news is that with the continuous expansion of domestic pulp production lines and the increasing quality requirements for pulp, continuous cooking systems have been widely applied. Through independent innovation and the digestion and absorption of introduced technologies, progress has been made to adapt to continuous cooking system equipment and automation, achieving comprehensive localization. The single-line production capacity of paper machinery can reach 50,000 tons per year, rapidly developing towards large-scale and automated operations.

Key maintenance of papermaking equipment

Pulping equipment plays a crucial role in the paper-making equipment production line. In the paper-making equipment production line, grinding, stirring, and colliding raw materials cause the fibers to break. After being broken and absorbing water, the fibers can be continuously crushed and refined, allowing the paper machine production line to proceed smoothly to the next stage of production.
